By the creek without a paddle,

It is now spring, and all the springs are running. even the ones we didn’t think were running. The pasture where we do our calving has become a swamp. and some of the cows are being slow about getting their calves here. So to make things better Grant thought it was dry enough to make some mounds in the pasture for the calves and cows to get up out of the slop. It was a great Idea except for what he found under the top 6” of dirt. He thought he was being very carful but in the spring, in the pasture, with the caterpillar, there is almost no such thing as being carful, and getting away with it. No matter how hard you try. This is what happens.  I am posting this for future reference, for our sons so they will not make the same mistake. because it nearly killed their dad. the poor man nearly wore himself out getting out of the pasture.

Here are the pictures. yes I took pictures, not as a, I told you so, because I didn’t. and not as a. look what my husband did because I’ve been in similar predicaments . It’s just a little story about the happenings around the farm. like I said in my introduction about us at the top of this blog. sometimes we are up the creek with a paddle and sometimes we up a creek without a paddle.

Our neighbor Dustin Koester who was on his way to feed comes along and believes he can pull Grant out with his 4 wheel drive tractor.

Dustin comes back with the really big tractor and is pretty sure he can pull Grant out. No such luck. So they decided to wait until Dustin's dad Kevin got back from buying seed grain so they can hook both tractors onto the Cat. At that point I had to leave to work at the family history center so I didn’t get to take any more pictures. but the two really big tractors worked because the Cat was unstuck and out of the pasture by the time I got home and my dear husband was about worn completely out. Moral of the story? If your up a creek without a paddle, your neighbor probably has one or two as the need may be, to help you out.
