New Car

I guess it was time, Grant has been after me to get rid of our 2005 Chevrolet Impala for about 1 1/2 years now, But I HATE CAR SHOPPING, and I wanted to have the impala paid off first. It was close to being paid off and my way of thinking was to have one car paid for before trading it for another one.It was not to be.

Ben had a job at Phil Medor Toyota as a lot attendant, and one day when we were there to talk to him we looked at a couple of small SUV’s nothing serious we just looked. Then Ben was moved to the Subaru Lot as a lot attendant, (Phil Medor owns the Toyota, Ford, and Subaru Lots so Ben can work at any one of those lots and still work for Phil Medor) I went there to take Ben a sandwich or something and as I was leaving I thought I would just take a look at what they had and for how much. A sales men came out and asked if I was interested in buying a new car, I told him I was kind of but he probably couldn’t get me into one for what I needed for the Impala and keep my payments where I needed them. (Now you have to understand the Impala was beat. After 4 years of paper routes with Ben and running kids around and letting kids drive it. and the hard winters we have here in the canyon it was beat up pretty bad. the muffler was hanging low, the electric locks didn’t work anymore. the paint was chipping off, the transmission had a hesitation when it was warm, or almost every time Grant drove it. it didn’t do it to me all the time, just Grant. It was getting to the point that we couldn't take it on any long trips without worrying.)

So anyway I told the salesmen where I needed to be and he looked at me and said, “We can do that.”  I was skeptical so I left. but I did tell Grant about it when I got home and then I forgot about it.  The next Monday, May 2nd Grant had to go to Pocatello for a all day meeting at Western States equipment and before he left he said, “If  I wanted, and he thought I should, I could go to town and test drive all the cars I might be interested in and then if I found one that I liked he would come over when he got off work, test drive it, and sign papers for it.  he thought we really really should get a different car and today would be the perfect day for it since he was in town.” There's just one thing he forgot about. which doesn't make any sense to him, but I HATE CAR SHOPPING, and I HATE GETTING INTO ANOTHER CAR PAYMENT.  But as a wife who knows that her husband has her best interest at heart and knows I’m going to have to do it sooner or later I decided to call Amy.  Amy is my car shopping councilor, she knows how bad I hate it. she knows how to keep me calm and while I am test driving the car she knows how to tell me about all the features it has. I WILL NEVER OF MY OWN FREE WILL, TEST DRIVE A CAR WITHOUT AMY. she keeps me calm and knows when I need a break. And she usually knows what I am looking for. and here’s the big one SHE LOVES CAR SHOPPING. So she makes it easier on me by making it as upbeat as possible.  Well we test drove a lot of cars on the Subaru lot, I really wasn't interested in looking at other lots because it puts to much pressure on me looking at to many cars, and the guy at the Subaru lot already said they could make it work and I have always liked the Subaru's and I knew Grant would like them. And if I bought one at a Phil Medor lot, Ben would get a finders fee of $200.00. since he works there and I came it to see him.  So it worked for everyone and kept the stress off me. So here is what we bought. a 2010 Subaru Outback, It is silver, it is higher off the ground than a car, it’s comfortable to ride in for Grant and I, it get great gas mileage, so far about 30 mpg, and they are known to last a very long time so I shouldn't have to go car shopping again for a very long time. I am grateful to have it and love driving it.

Personally I think Heavenly Father picked it out for us, because before I even considered going and looking for a car I got on my knees and prayed for guidance to know whether or not I should even consider really looking and buying a car, and the feeling I got was that I should, even though I didn’t want to. so I prayed again and asked if that was my answer. I again felt I should. So I went ahead and called Amy, and headed to Pocatello, then before I reached our neighbors the Koester’s I had a memory flash of a dream I had had. and in this dream I remembered I was driving a silver car shaped kind of like a small station wagon into our driveway. and at that moment I got a warm feeling all over. well while I was test driving cars I never test drove a silver car, I drove red ones and several shades of blue, and the one I picked out was robin egg blue, but when Grant and I and Amy came back from test driving it, the finance person came out and said he couldn’t work the math to get us into the blue one and keep our payments where I needed them to be but there was a silver one with just a few more miles on it that he could get us in. I knew at that moment that I would be taking a silver  Outback home with me. We test drove it and went in and signed the papers.  I believe this is just one more testament to me that God really cares about us, about our everyday problems. He knows what’s hard for us to do. And he know when we are trying to do what is right. And if we listen to him and believe he will guide us and act on his guidance, then it becomes easy to receive  his inspiration and guidance.
